Visual art, to me is a language that needs no deep philosophical or literary explanation. You get what you see and perceive what you can. IIn other words it’s up to the observer and their abilities to interpret the visual, which perhaps brings harmony between the observer and the painting. It is not a question of taste, but a feeling for quality which determines if the experience of looking at my paintings is of a lasting character.

I was born in 1942. I served my apprenticeship as a housepainter and studied for 4 years at the Commercial Arts College in Copenhagen. I exhibited for the first time at “Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling” at “Den Frie” in 1969 with surreal paintings and my first one man show was in Gallery Arnesen in 1974 as a photorealist.

Since 1977 I have painted non-figurative paintings except for the portraits. In addition, since the age of 15, I have carried out Heraldic work for the Danish Free Masons Order and later for “Ordenskapitlet” for her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. (The Coat of Arms are exhibited at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød)

I am a member of BKF and Kunstnersamfundet.

Thirty years ago I built a studio on Sherkin Island, West Cork in Ireland where I work from May through to October.
